Dungeons and Dating
Are you a lover or a fighter?
In Dungeons & Dating you can be both!

You are an adventurer ready to fulfill the ancient prophecy. In order to do so you must face various kinds of monsters and decide how to defeat (or seduce) them with the help of your unusual sidekick.

Oh, and most importantly: become a hero!

The project
Dungeons and Dating is a game demo developed by Soft Shell Games in one month, as a creative project. The idea came from our narrative designer Maria Eduarda Lacerda (Duda), an avid Dungeons and Dragons player.

The project consisted of a card game where the character entered a dungeon, and could use his items to defeat the monsters of the DnD universe, or conquer them romantically.
The gameplay was adapted to the visual novel system, which we were practicing when we decided to do this creative project.
The characters
Mimic
The first character the player meets is a mimic. He will be your unexpected adventure companion. He is charismatic, mocking and bossy.

Mind Flayer

As the first monster, and the only one in the demo, our writer Duda wrote Fly, the Mind Flayer. He was written to be a "brocialist", or in PT-BR, a "esquerdomacho".

He is a man who thinks he is very cool and progressive, with a speech in support of social justice but who in many situations demonstrates sexism, machismo, homophobia, transphobia, etc. A manipulative monster.

The setting
We decided that the story would take place in a dungeon, like in classic DnD. Because of our limited production time, I created a scene from inside the dungeon and reused it with some modifications for the background at the beginning and end of the demo.

I also created a background with just the brick texture and a simple fire animation for the game's startup screen.
I also planned and designed the game's UI visuals.
