- Gender Reveal Art -
My beloved cousin is pregnant, and had a gender reveal party.
Her girl friend responsible for the reveal asked me if I wanted to participate, creating an illustration that would be a gift from the baby.
Of course I said yes!
The illustration should contain the baby's name (according to his/her gender), the color chosen to represent the gender at the reveal party, and a portrait of the family.
If it was a baby girl, her name would be Cecília, with purple color, but if they were having a baby boy, you probably guessed... His name would be Joaquim, with green color!
Joaquim will be joining our family next year :)
As I progressed further with the illustration, I kept sending the progress to the girl friend, who suggested a couple of modifications that were made.
Below you can see some images of the process.

I started gathering photos of them that would be useful as reference for drawing the portrait. Also, since my cousin doesn't have a pregnant belly yet, I used a reference found online for that. Their faces are blurred for the sake of privacy.
Then I did the sketch (up-center image), and applied the base colors (up-right image).
After that, I jumped to the shadows (down-left image), highlights (down-center image) and addition of the name and the frame to put it all together (down-right image).

You can check below the result, after some final changes.

This was printed on an A4 paper, and placed in a frame. They received it after discovering their baby's gender, during the party!
I hope you enjoyed it, and thank you for seeing my work :)
